Michael Phelps is, in case you weren't aware by now, a stud. He went 8-for-8 by winning 8 gold medals in Beijing, making him one of the greatest athletes in Olympic History. In addition to his medals, he's also got a couple of big ol' ears, too.
As I watched him remove his swim cap after winning his 8th medal, it hit me. This guy could use a little hair. With his hair cut short you can't help but notice those flappers. Of course, at this point very few people (except me) are looking at Phelps' ears -- they're all too blinded by the reflection from all that gold hanging around his neck. I can't help it. Hair's what I do.
After a little digging, I managed to find a good shot of Michael with a little more hair -- and I think it makes a tremendous difference.
Having a bit more fullness on the sides really draws the focus away from his ears. This is a good example of how a haircut can balance facial features. That being said, I think he looks cool either way. But, for those who are concerned with large ears, this is a good example of how you minimize them with a the right hairstyle.
Congrats, Michael, you've made us proud. Ears and all.
