I admit it. As a middle aged guy, I don't listen to a lot of boy bands these days. Of course it is my job to keep up-to-date on the latest styles and the guys from One Direction are a bit hard to avoid lately. I saw them on a music awards show recently and thought a few of the guys had some pretty cool haircuts -- especially Zayn Malik. I really like styles which combine traditional barbering with modern technique. For this haircut, the hair is clipper cut high up the sides and back (about a #3 blade) and tapered at the neck. The top is left very long and and styled in a loose pompadour (which could also be worn slicked up neatly for a more traditional look. A chunky highlight in front accents the wave in Zayn's hair. It's a style not many of us could pull off, but Malik works it well.
