Definition: Generally, hair is cut to achieve a smooth, uniform effect. Sometimes, texture (a spikey, disheveled look) is desirable. Texture is added to the hair by cutting the ends unevenly using a shear point technique or with a razor or thinning shears. Texture can also be added by the subtle use of highlights. Even the most traditional haircuts can be made more contemporary (if appropriate) by the use of texturizing.
