The Faux Hawk trend has peaked and has started to evolve into a much shorter variation of the style. My friend Ivan Zoot (the National Director of Education for the Andis Clipper Company) has dubbed this new style the "Low Hawk" due to its aggressively short nature. I like the term.

The Low Hawk, one of latest trends, seemed to start in the United Kingdom (where it has peaked) and has worked its way across the pond to the United States. Already popular on the West Coast and making its way east, the cut has been featured recently by Kevin Federline on the December cover of Details Magazine. Who would have ever guessed that Kevin Federline would become a style icon?

The style is cut very short and high past the round of the head on the sides and back, while the top is cut to form a peak with a slight taper towards the front hairline. With summer just around the corner, the Low Hawk is a cool and easy style. While it is best worn by younger guys, the right mature man can pull it off just fine. World renowned makeup artist Billy B (now 44) told me, "I started getting gray in my 20s, so especially now, I think it's important to have a cool, fresh cut to keep an edge and to try to remain youthful. As a makeup artist in the entertainment industry it's especially important. For men, there isn't so much that we can do other than take care of ourselves and get a cool cut."

To get the look, print a copy of the photo and take it to your stylist who can help determine if the style will work for you. For more great haircut ideas, visit our men's hairstyle galleries.
