This time of year, I'm often asked about the proper etiquette for tipping barbers and stylists around the holidays. Of course, I prefer large, unmarked bills or nice bottles of single malt. That's a hint to my clients who may be reading this! Subtle, eh? Seriously, though, barbers and stylists rely on tips for a large portion of their income and it is customary to tip a bit more during the holidays -- it is generally acceptable to tip the normal cost of a visit. If you have a close relationship with your barber or stylist, include a small personal gift that reflects his or her interests as well as a monetary gift. For more on the subject, check out my guide to tipping your barber or stylist. Happy Holidays!
